Data presented by NHK's J-Melo show that the Philippines topped the list in terms of Highest emailing countiries. and if it were to be compared with vis-a-vis Most requested artist. It would show that most viewers want L~arc N Ciel videos to be featured on the show. It is worthy to note that there is a significant (although I don't know of the exact figures) number of Jpop fans in the country given the results of the awards wherein the Philippines snagged 1st place in the same category twice.

In addition, the ascent of Arashi in the 2008 Most requested artist list is totally worth-mentioning. In 2007, Arashi was out of the top 10 list. The only JE groups requested in the show are KATTUN (3rd) and NEWS (5th).
But come 2008, more international JE fans requested for more of Manong Johnny's boys as such the rise of Arashi (2nd place) and Hey!Say! Jump (3rd place),  thus displaced NEWS (6th) and KATTUN (5th) from their previous years rank but at least, these two remained on the top 10 list.  Morning Musume, DIR EN GREY, Ai Otsuka, Namie Amuro were booted out of the J-Melo list but saw the rise of tohoshinki and alicenine. Meanwhile, L~arc N Ciel remained as the most requested artist.

Since I am so happy that my small knowledge of Hanggul and Hiragana/Katakana is paying off. I decided to research on other JE Songs as well. In particular, boyband groups KAT-TUN, NewS and Hey!Say!Jump

I'm going to attend a karaoke session on Friday at Music21. And because I don't want to get disappointed again because of the system not having Wish or Love So Sweet I decided to do a research on Arashi songs at the kumyoung website.

On Jun's role being half-Filipino

TBS might be riding the hype of the case of Noriko Calderon, a girl born in Japan but isn't really a native of the land of the rising sun. Her parents are both Filipinos who entered Japan illegally before she was born.

She doesn't know her real nationality until her parents were arrested in 2006.

The 13 year old girl together with her parents are facing deportation. But the parents requested that she be allowed to stay in Japan because she will have difficulty studying in the Philippines. She doesn't know Tagalog and will not be able to get credits for her studies in Japan and will have to start elementary school all over again. The deadline for the decision of her case is due today Feb 13.

Regardless of TBS riding on the issue, I hope this will not put a bad light on FIlipinos. I bet there are many other cases like this in Japan not only for half-Filipinos. I hope that Noriko gets to continue her studies in Japan. I feel sorry for her that she had to go through all this trouble when her parents only wanted to give her a good life. My heart is bleeding for Noriko and to those who are in the same situation right now. I'm praying for you guys.

I commend TBS for covering the story of Noriko. I've read that there has been a media boycott regarding the issue.

I'm am very pleased to write about this fanmeet. Actually this entry is long overdue and while I'm writing about this my right hand is freezing and my left hand is at normal body temperature. Super Weird.

The fanmeet was held last January 24, 2009 at Sheeella's place basically to celebrate the birth of two-fifths of Arashi, the ultra popular boy group from Japan.

A Double celebration for Sakurai Sho and Aiba Masaki was organized by Em and Teeny with the help of Sheila~ne-chan who gladly allowed us to use their place as the venue. Around 40+ people attended the event, comprised mostly of fangirls. A handful of fanboys was spotted too along with other newbie fanmeet attendees and Manila-Baguio adventurers.

We had games, food and music. ValetParking band played Sakura Sake, Oh! Yeah and Pikanchi Double for us with fangirls representing/ singing the lines of their favorite Arashi boy. For those who can't remember the lyrics, a giant lyric sheet was prepared and was posted at the back.

A cosplay contest was also held and vylette's Mirror man emerged as the most popular and loved cosplay of the night.
We were also grateful to Mr. Lyndon Gregorio and his fiancee, Lei (Chompy) who graced the fanmeet with their presence.

And to document how successful the event was, a comic strip was created and published by Mr. Lyndon Gregorio today Feb 4 at the beerkada.net website and at the Philippine Star (a broadsheet newspaper in the Philippines)
